Ryanair's Game-Changing Move: Elevating Dubrovnik to Year-Round Tourism Hub

29.11.2023

Ryanair's strategic move to establish a new base at Dubrovnik's Ruder Boskovic Airport marks a transformative development for the picturesque coastal city. Commencing operations in April '24 with two cutting-edge Boeing 8-200 "Gamechanger" aircraft, the airline's $200 million investment is set to redefine travel dynamics in the region. Notably, this initiative creates over 500 local jobs, including 60 high-paying positions for pilots and cabin crew.

Dubrovnik, now Ryanair's third Croatian base alongside Zadar and Zagreb, is positioned to become a year-round tourism hub. The summer '24 schedule boasts 18 routes, including 16 new connections to major European cities such as Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Wroclaw. The increased frequencies on existing routes, coupled with the addition of year-round operations, emphasize Ryanair's commitment to enhancing connectivity and sustaining Dubrovnik's allure beyond the summer months.

This significant expansion follows Ryanair's ongoing investment in Croatia, totaling over $800 million since the pandemic. As Ryanair continues to lead the aviation recovery in Croatia, Dubrovnik emerges as a key focal point, promising heightened tourism, economic vitality, and enhanced connectivity for years to come.
