Jules Verne coming to Dubrovnik this summer at unmissable festival

Grab that big, red marker pen and circle these dates. This festival is always a hit in Dubrovnik and as all the performances are in English you'll face no language barriers. Drama on an incredible open-air stage in Dubrovnik.
The Croatian cultural summer will be very hot and interesting this year. For the first time since the foundation of the festival, Dubrovnik's Midsummer Scene stages a musical this summer at Lovrjenac. From June 22 until July 6, a real trip around the world awaits us in the specially staged musical "Around the World in Eighty Days".
"This is the world premiere of a new musical version of Jules Verne's classic novel that promises plenty of fun, romance and adventure. You can certainly expect an increased dose of slapstick, can-can dancers, a balloon flight, a train accident, elephants and infectious melodies in the fascinating ambience of the Lovrjenac fortress in Dubrovnik!" - announced the producer of Midsummer Scene, Darija Mikulandra Žanetić.
A ground-breaking journey around the world in the company of Mr. Phileas Fogg and his servant Passepartout will be fun for the whole family. The adaptation of the text and the direction are signed by the award-winning English playwright and director Sean Aita, and the music was composed by the French actor and composer Leo Elso, who recently performed in the musical The Grinning Man in London's West End, and in ABBA's spectacular Voyage concert, where he is the avatar of Benny Andersson.
Around the world in 90 minutes and all from Dubrovnik
Jules Verne is considered the father of science fiction, but in this famous novel the author touched on the sudden development of world transportation. At the same time, he commented on the casual attitude of travellers from Western colonial powers towards the cultures and customs of the countries they travelled to. We can freely draw parallels with the instant instagramming of world travel where we can fly to any country in an instant, click a few nice pictures and then sneak right back.
This musical was specially written and composed for the Midsummer Scene festival. It will provide viewers from all over the world with the perfect summer entertainment. In ninety minutes, they will go around the whole world from Lovrjenac. This is a real refresh of the Festival in its ninth season.
