Croatia Ranked Among World’s Top 10 Digital Nomad Destinations for 2026

Croatia has officially secured its place among the world’s leading destinations for remote workers after being ranked among the top ten countries globally for digital nomads in 2026.
The latest international index from U.S. News & World Report placed Croatia in eighth place worldwide, ahead of a number of larger economies and long-established remote-working hubs.
The annual ranking evaluates countries based on factors including quality of life, safety, internet connectivity, infrastructure and overall appeal for remote professionals.
At the top of the 2026 list was Iceland, followed by Singapore, Ireland and the United States.
Dubrovnik Strengthening Croatia’s Nomad Reputation
One Croatian city increasingly helping drive that international reputation is Dubrovnik.
Long famous for its medieval walls and Adriatic beauty, Dubrovnik has in recent years evolved into a growing hotspot for digital nomads looking for a balance between work and lifestyle. The city now attracts remote workers from across Europe, the United States and beyond, many of whom choose to stay for extended periods outside the peak summer season.
Coworking projects such as Dubrovnik Co-Working Space in the TUP Centre have helped create a more international remote-working community in the city, while Dubrovnik’s strong safety record, walkability, reliable internet and direct flight connections continue to boost its appeal.
For many nomads, Dubrovnik offers something increasingly rare, the ability to work remotely from a destination that feels more like a permanent holiday than an office base.
Croatia’s Digital Nomad Visa Continues to Attract Interest
Croatia was also one of the first European countries to introduce a dedicated digital nomad residence permit for non-EU citizens.
Under the current scheme, remote workers can obtain temporary residence for up to 18 months, helping position Croatia as one of Europe’s more welcoming destinations for long-term remote stays.
Industry experts say the country’s growing popularity is being driven by a combination of Mediterranean lifestyle, relative affordability compared to Western Europe, safety and year-round climate.
