One of Dubrovnik’s most celebrated cultural institutions, Folklore Ensemble Linđo, will perform on May 12 at Lazareti, bringing the rich traditions, music and dances of southern Croatia to the stage.
Founded in 1964, Linđo has become a symbol of Dubrovnik’s cultural identity, preserving and promoting the traditional songs, dances and customs of the Dubrovnik region, including Dubrovnik Primorje, Župa dubrovačka and Konavle. The ensemble takes its name from the famous Linđo dance, one of Croatia’s protected intangible cultural treasures.
Audiences can expect an evening filled with colourful traditional costumes, energetic choreography, live music and klapa singing, the authentic a cappella style recognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage.
Over the decades, Linđo has performed more than 3,500 concerts for over two million spectators and has represented Dubrovnik and Croatia at more than 200 national and international appearances.
With a costume collection of around 1,500 original folk costumes and thousands of former members having passed through the ensemble, Linđo remains one of Croatia’s most respected guardians of traditional culture.
The performance offers visitors and locals alike a chance to experience the spirit, rhythm and heritage of Dubrovnik in one unforgettable evening.
