Dubrovnik Crowned Europe’s Leading Seaside City for Third Time in Four Years

Dubrovnik Crowned Europe’s Leading Seaside City for Third Time in Four Years
27.10.2026

Dubrovnik has once again confirmed its position among Europe’s most attractive coastal destinations, winning the prestigious title of Europe’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination at the World Travel Awards 2026.

The award was presented on October 17 at a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort in Montenegro, with Miroslav Drašković, Director of the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, accepting the honour on behalf of the city.

Remarkably, this is the third time in four years that Dubrovnik has claimed the title, following previous victories in 2023 and 2025.

The latest recognition adds to an impressive collection of international awards. In 2023, Dubrovnik was also named World’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination, while the city has previously won Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination award three times.

A City Looking Towards a More Sustainable Future

Beyond its famous medieval walls, spectacular coastline and UNESCO-listed Old City, Dubrovnik is increasingly being recognised for its commitment to sustainable tourism.

In 2025, the city received the World’s Leading Sustainable Destination award and was subsequently named European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism 2026.

These achievements reflect ongoing efforts to balance tourism growth with the preservation of Dubrovnik’s cultural heritage and the quality of life of its residents.

Through initiatives such as Respect the City, Dubrovnik is working to create a more sustainable and welcoming destination for visitors and locals alike.

And for digital nomads and remote workers considering Dubrovnik as a temporary home, the city’s international recognition provides another reason to explore life beyond a traditional holiday.

With its Mediterranean lifestyle, rich cultural heritage and growing international community, Dubrovnik offers much more than a beautiful place to visit – it’s also an inspiring place to live and work.
