Climate

Sailing ship heading toward St John's Fortress and Dubrovnik Old City, framed by trees and flowers

If you are looking for almost guaranteed summer sunshine, then Dubrovnik is the destination for you. In fact, Dubrovnik’s climate is very much like Croatia as a country, diverse! However, one thing that are sure to find is sunshine. There are around 2,700 hours of sunshine every year and from May to September it’s rare to have a rainy day. Although be prepared for the odd summer storm.

And the winters are the mildest of any city in Croatia, well it is the southernmost city so that’s probably to be expected. To give you a rough idea the average summer temperature is around 26 degrees, and the average winter temperature is 10 degrees. However, there is a winter wind that will make you feel “fresh” the north wind or “bura” will have you reaching for an extra jacket. And the sea temperature is just as impressive, although in the winter you’ll need to a little brave. During the warmer months the sea temperatures reaches a bath-like 25 degrees, and sometimes even more.
